You are what you do. And your visitors rely on what best thing they view in your web page. Better you plan to design your portfolio, more visitors and new customers you will get.
Web designing portfolio is the section that represents your business with reputation and promotes the quality of your work in front of your prospects. Instead of writing bulk contents, one portfolio with cool, professional graphics can convince your prospects to be your customer.
Everybody keeps a set of portfolio samples to get ahead in competition. Only few portfolios really impress visitors and they feel interested in them. If you analyze your portfolio based on the following points, you can make an outstanding portfolio. Your properly designed portfolio can take you way ahead from your competitors:
•Detailed product line: Include all types of web design products in your business portfolio. Your portfolio must contain all the category and subcategory of services that you provide to your clients.
•Different styles: Don’t include too many similar looking graphics for each category. Your web design portfolio should contain designs of various styles and themes.
•Clients: Past clients, whose designs you are showcasing in your portfolio samples, should be from different industries. Highlighting different industries in your work samples shows your designing knowledge for working with different business clients. Most of the time, you can gain customer’s trust if he sees that you have designed a website on the trade he deals with. That can bring business in your favour.
•Recent works: You must update and show your recent works to your customers. If you show a web template of a customer whose designs you had done before two years, there is a chance that the template may have changed by now. If your prospect verify your client’s web address and see your designed template is completely different from that of your client’s present one, he may go away from taking your service.
•Portfolio display style: Every graphics in your portfolio should be displayed in thumbnail and enlarged format. If a person clicks on an image to enlarge it, the image should be quickly loading. If you use special animation style to load enlarged images, customers will feel interested to surf through your work samples.
•Technology: What coding software you are using for showing your portfolio? You may put a HTML, CSS and JavaScript designed portfolio in front of your customers or you can design a fully functional Adobe Flash template for better execution and use of modern web technology.
•Quick Portfolio Search: When your portfolio gets huge, it becomes very tough for the visitor to get appropriate items or right category of design or trade related design. If your portfolio contains too many graphics, you should keep a keyword based search option such your visitors can quickly search and get type of graphics they want.
•Portfolio segment: Your portfolio can be segmented date wise (keeping new projects on top and older projects at bottom of page ), industry wise. You can segment portfolio on the basis of main categories like website, minisite, graphics, blog, portal etc. You can further categorize your segments based on static and dynamic sites.
Keeping these eight points in mind, you can have a better web designer’s portfolio to make customers taking decision in favour of you. It’s time to wow your customers with your dazzling portfolio.
