Lose weight with alkaline foods

The body should have a pH which is slightly alkaline at about 7.4. If your pH is 7.00 it is neutral but a pH of below 7.00 is acid. A pH above 7.0 is alkaline. Your body’s health depends on a balance of an alkaline environment, which can be achieved by foods such as green vegetables, tomatoes and avocados, amongst others. It’s about striking a balance of 80/20 of alkaline/acid.

If you have an acid pH, it can be caused by a variety of things such as a toxic overload of the immune system depriving the cells of oxygen and nutrients. The body’s way of compensating for it being too acid is to use alkaline minerals; therefore, if the diet does not contain enough of these minerals to compensate, it means a build up of acids in the cells.

Why have bodies become out of balance? In my opinion, it is the ever changing world we live in, not to mention, goodness knows how many different diets, one of the worst culprits is processed food. that all seem to offer, that magic formula to turn you into the next super model. We can’t be so gullible! Can we?

All of this has lead to rapidly growing cases of heart disease, cancer and diabetes, which just by chance, are happening due to the increased intake of acid forming foods such as saturated fats, sugars and white breads.

Whilst everyone has been so busy eating these acid forming foods, they have forgotten about even the most basic of nutrition, so fresh vegetables and essential fatty acids have go by the wayside. Tragic consequences to children and grandchildren who are all walking around as obese as their parents. We have a generation addicted to sugary treats.

Look around and what do you see? I will tell you, for those who have become somewhat short sited, either of those around them, or of themselves. The body has become bloated out of all recognition.

Our bodies which are a miracle by the way, if, you would only take the time to think how marvellous it functions, or should I say, should function with all the excess fat taken away.

For the sake of your health, sooner, rather than later you should change your diet to eating more alkaline foods. No more procrastinating, pretending that you feel fine, but you know you don’t!

Changing one’s diet is not difficult, for, at the end of the day it is replacing bad habits with good habits and giving you back your health, that’s got to be good, hasn’t it? You will be able to age without aches, pains, headaches, lethargy and depression, allowing you to find your precious figures again.

As I have said in so many articles, "we are what we eat", its time to show an example, to those who are younger than you, how to eat a proper wholesome nutritious diet.

Come on, you know the foods that are good, low sugar foods, fresh vegetables, fruit, beans, grains etc. So, which are the foods that leave your body ill and needy? Yes, it’s a no- brainer, alcohol, meats, dairy, sweets and there are others.

In other articles I have stressed how we are all different; unique in our own individual ways, but if you make sure you aim to eat 80% alkaline foods leaving you 20% of acid forming foods.

No more calorie counting, simply know what is on your plate 80/20 ratio.

Below is quick guide of the foods that will ultimately balance your body, don’t be tempted to go from one extreme to another. If you are going to start this journey, do it properly.

Almonds, banana, blackberries, carrot, chives, cranberries, grapes, kale, peach pomegranate, plum, raspberries and spinach Lima beans, soy beans, green beans, peas, green vegetables, lentils, spices, seeds and grains, not forgetting nuts such as almonds and pine nuts.

Treat yourself to a juicer and experiment with different types of juices, its a fabulous way of getting enzymes and nutritional content. – Barley grass, beet, celery, wheat grass, spinach, carrots. Etc. Research others too.

Acquaint yourself with acid foods, important to limit your intake but do not discard.

Sugar cane, corn, wheat, drugs, soy noodles, spaghetti and other pasta( buy from health food shops) cheese, butter, cream wheat, maple syrup, sugar and honey, barley, bread, caffeine.( there are others)

Modern lifestyle means that most do not have a balanced body, which is essential if you want to age without serious illness, aches and pains. For the sake of your future health lose weight by eating healthy diets. Introduce exercise and relaxation into your daily schedule. No more procrastinating, start now.

If you continue the way you are going too much acidic food and not enough alkaline, you are depriving your body of minerals by decreasing the bodies ability to absorb minerals and nutrients. The body will become less able to repair damaged cells, decrease its ability to detoxify heavy metals. Cancer thrives in a pH that is less than 7.

Over the last 20 years acidosis has become common in western society, mainly due to the typical Western European diet, which is eating too much dairy, too many eggs and meat, yet not enough alkaline foods, such as fresh vegetables.

For most, eating too much processed food, drinking far too much coffee and soft drinks and finally taking too many chemical drugs.
