What is the best whey protein powder? You may be under the impression that just because you are eating whey that you are getting all of the incredible health benefits that it possesses. However, if you are not choosing correctly, there is a 99% chance that you are getting very few benefits out of your current whey protein.
Inherently, whey is an excellent source of protein that is frequently considered to be the world's perfect protein. The reason is that it is a complete protein. This means that it contains all of the amino acids that make up a protein and even all the essential amino acids that your body needs but cannot produce internally.

It seems like it would be a fairly simple choice to make but the problem is that big companies are pumping huge amounts of cash into marketing their inferior products. It is actually a great source of glutathione which is the body's "master antioxidant". Studies have also shown that people who take whey protein are able to build more lean muscle mass, have quicker muscle and workout recovery time, and are able to burn more excess body fat.
However, many whey producers have chosen to put their time into marketing rather than in the quality of their protein. The difference in a low quality whey and what I feel is the best whey is in the production of the product, not in the marketing of the product. Poor production methods can actually kill many of the good enzymes and wonderful nutrients that whey contains. For example, make sure that the whey you buy does not denature the protein. How do you know? The best whey protein powder makers out there will make sure they tell you that their whey is "undenatured" or "nondenatured". Denaturing happens when the production process uses very high heat so look for whey that is only cold-processed. This way you get all of the nutrients and they are kept in their original state...the way nature intended.
Another key factor that the best whey protein powder has is that it is only from organic grass fed cows. Recently, the superiority of grass fed milk, beef, lamb, bison, etc has become much more widely known. Cows were never meant to be fed corn or grain. They were meant to feed on pesticide free grass in open pastures. The best whey powder will undoubtedly come from grass fed cows. Grass fed cows have much lower fat content, few calories, and the fat that they do have is extremely high in omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3s are called "good fats" because they play a vital role in the human body. So even the trace amounts of fat found in the best whey powder is actually far superior to a whey with zero fat.
Personally, I will not eat any whey (or meat product for that matter) unless I know it comes from organic raw undenatured milk from grass fed cows. These are just a couple of the keys to choosing the best whey protein powder.
