How to Overcome Jealousy
After you admit you've got a problem with jealousy, you must decide if your fear is realistic.
If you've got a bad relationship, you've got to make some decisions. Not everybody dislikes a partner who likes to flirt. If you're in a relationship you want to be exclusive, you have to decide whether to end the relationship or ask for a commitment.
If your relationship is already exclusive and you're still jealous, you have to work on yourself. If you don’t work on yourself, you'll need to deal with your jealousy in the following relationship.
Take care care of yourself
Jealousy tends to make you obsessive about the opposite person. To prevent jealousy in its tracks you have got to find out to take care of yourself.
Knowing you can live without someone is the best way to keep that person around. Focusing all your attention on negative fears makes them more likely to happen. Being too clingy can drive the other person far from you.
Real change is a process. Practice makes perfect. Tricks and tips that may help:
•Learning thought replacement. Learn to replace a jealous thought with a positive one. If you think that your partner is with someone else, replace that thought with one that reminds you of your commitment.
•Learn good self-care.When you're feeling jealous, stop and do something you enjoy. Do something you prefer to do but your partner doesn’t. Learn to have fun on your own and you’ll feel a lot better.
•Get out and exercise. Fear is created from energy. Exercise dissipates energy. Lift weights, work out, or run until you are feeling calmer. Exercise puts endorphins into your system. Endorphins are the body’s way of calming you down naturally.
You Need Help
Don’t be ashamed just because you are jealous. Therapy is a good way to cut through fear fast.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is one fast, effective form of help that teaches you to see your life differently. CBT helps you see life in a new way so you don’t feel jealous so often.
Life is difficult for everyone sometimes. People who struggle with jealousy have often been hurt early in life. Bad relationship experiences can be at the root of jealousy. Early negative experiences can poison later ones.
Therapy can place a clearer perspective on the past. Therapy can help you create personal goals and attain them. CBT, hypnotherapy, and self-hypnosis all help jealousy to go away.
Jealousy can be conquered. You can have good relationships with some work and help. Taking the first step is half the battle.
A relationship free from jealousy may be in your future.
